Mobile Game Art
I spent four years at MobilityWare on the Casino Suite team, creating artwork for Vegas BLVD Slots. The illustrations and animations shown here represent several of the machines I worked on. My responsibilities included designing characters, symbols, frames, reel strips, backgrounds, title logo treatments, lobby tiles, and various UI assets.
While designing symbols, I had to maintain clear visual hierarchy—from royals and picture symbols to wilds and bonus icons—ensuring each element stood out against the background while still supporting the overall theme. I also kept layers clean and organized to optimize texture sheet usage.
I animated characters and symbols using Spine by Esoteric, which allowed us to create multiple animation sequences while conserving texture space compared to frame-by-frame animation. When painting characters, I designed poses that would be easy to break apart and manipulate during animation, naming every layer down to eyelids, irises, and shadows. In cases where I received flattened artwork from contractors (as in the final example), I separated and repainted the individual components—such as arms, torso, neck, and eyes—to prepare them for animation.
The following theme is an example of artwork from a contractor that I color adjusted, split up, and animated.
